The warm, clear and calm waters of the Andaman Sea offer ideal snorkelling conditions, boat trips can be taken to one of the many islands surrounded by stunning reefs. Most reefs start relatively shallow and all tours offer lifejackets as well as snorkelling equipment.
Thai Cookery Courses
There are a number of Cooking Courses on the island, each one offering easy to follow recipes that you can repeat at home. They are fun to do and the best part is eating what you cooked!
You can have all your troubles pummelled away via a Thai massage on the beach but if you are looking for something a little more tranquil, why not go to one of the excellent spas on the island. High quality and a fraction of the cost of home.
These magnificent creatures are a joy to see and many centres have a few baby elephants too! Take a jungle trek on these gentle giants who are lovingly looked after by their mahouts. Available in Phrae Ae and Klong Nin as well as just before the National Park.
The Tiger Caves (Mai Kaeo) are situated just above Klong Nin and were recently discovered during some land clearance. They are best viewed with a guide and the tour takes about 2 hours. The stalactites and stalagmites are very impressive.
Take a Longtail or canoe tour of the mangroves and see the incredible wildlife here including the large number of wild monkeys. Many tours also offer you the opportunity of crabbing whilst you are there.
Muay Thai Classes & Fights
Located in Phrae Ae, the Muay Thai Gym offers classes for complete beginners and you can even train for your first professional bout. This highly physical sport is steeped in traditions and takes many years of training. If you are not feeling so energetic, there are regular fights throughout the island which you can watch.
